Project Support Officer (PSO)

The purpose of this role is to support the planning, monitoring and control of programmes and projects and to act as a repository of project commonality, knowledge, experience and best practice.  This role provides a project audit function and a means of underpinning continuous improvement across programme and project management activities.

  • Assisting the Programme and Project Managers in the production and maintenance of project documentation and records
  • The provision of analysis of project/task performance against Time, Cost and Quality
  • Tracking of ES Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Inputting relevant data to maintain currency on SAGE and ES invoicing schedule
  • Acting as secretary at important customer meetings, providing Record of Actions and Decisions (ROADs) as required
  • Developing and maintaining the project/task library, filing, recording and reporting systems
  • Maintaining programme actions log, tracking actions against agreed timeline
  • Maintaining risk and issue logs and Change Control Records
  • Coordinating the production of project summaries as part of the post-project/task review process
  • Advising and assisting project/task team members in the application of project procedures, disciplines, recording and reporting standards
  • Supporting effective communication mechanisms between the project/task teams
  • Proactive continuous improvement across project support activities and processes
  • Co-ordinating arrangements and travel needs for project teams where required for on-site locations
  • Working with finance function in producing forecasting information at month-end reporting intervals

Qualifications, Experience And Skills:

  • A high degree of computer literacy including advanced knowledge of the MS Office suite and familiarity with project accounting software such as SAGE or equivalent
  • The ability to embrace and adapt to further accounting processes or in-house software packages
  • The ability to analyze and present project information in a clear and legible format
  • The ability to work unsupervised
  • Mature interpersonal skills to drive compliance across all projects/tasks and to drive continuous improvement
  • High degree of numeracy desired

Additional Information:

  • An in-date passport and full driving licence is desirable but not essential
  • SECURITY – All candidates must be in a position to obtain UK security clearance to SC level
