This role is to provide cross functional Procurement Support at an operational level to the Business.  Empowered to coordinate the Procurement team effectively you will ensure tactical implementation of Procurement plans and the application of an appropriate level of support to manage programmatic priorities and demands.  You will also take direct responsibility for the most critical projects and relationships

Supply Chain objectives are aligned with our Strategic Business Plan and best industry practices.  The Senior Buyer shall manage a small team of Buyers and work within company process/legislation, but also have the ability to identify and present process developments and improvement opportunities

You will support implementation of the Procurement Strategy, and will take the lead on Procurement activities as required to support The Businesses Strategic Growth Plan.

  • Manage day to day priorities, safety practices, and adherence to deadlines, also ensuring close relationships with stakeholder groups are effective
  • You will coordinate the Procurement team effectively to ensure appropriate tactical implementation of Procurement plans and support to programmatic priorities and demands
  • End to end management of Supply Chain materiel demands in accordance with business or project time, cost and quality requirements
  • Drive down Supply Chain costs through hard savings, and execution of category strategies
  • Work closely with the Supply Chain Manager to maximize process efficiencies and optimize Supply Chain Costs
  • Work closely with the Supply Chain Manager building supplier resilience in order to continually develop a robust and sustainable Supply Chain, that is future proof and can support planned growth
  • Working within applicable export controls to ensure Trade Compliance
  • Negotiation and management of long term supply agreements with the objective to strengthen STS’s supply chain and deliver against performance targets
  • Where appropriate streamline supplier portfolio through process of spend analysis and cross functional source review
  • Acting as an ERP subject matter expert deliver business wide system support, develop training materials and administration of training programs
  • Establishing and maintaining strategic relationships with key suppliers in line with Business Objectives and Supply Chain development (management of strategic supplier reviews & supplier QA surveillance/audit plans)
  • Integral member of cross functional stakeholder groups providing support to the bid process
  • Able to identify functional process improvements, quantify benefit and present opportunities to The Supply Chain Manager for review/implementation
  • Responsible for maintenance of KPI’s and tracking of performance against agreed targets
  • Deputize for the Supply Chain Manager in the event of absence
  • Maintain regular communication with all business groups within a dynamic and agile business environment
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience
  • A minimum of CIPS level 4 (training towards level 5 desirable)
  • Ability to identify Supply Chain risk and appropriate mitigations
  • The ability to build relationships with staff at all levels
  • A military / maritime / engineering support background is an advantage
  • Category B Driving License is essential
  • Experienced in Trade Compliance and the movement of export controlled goods (ITAR/EAR/EU) highly desirable
  • Demonstrable experience in drafting and negotiating robust long term commercial supply agreements (framework and complex sub-contracts)
  • Strong communication and organisational skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks with an attention to fine detail and propensity for opportunity analysis whilst under pressure
  • Good Competency in the use of MS Excel/Word, and experience using and maintaining ERP systems
  • Ability to take a proactive approach to overcome challenges and achieve results with an aptitude for continuous improvement
  • Strong time management skills, able to apply an appropriate balance between tactical demands and strategic direction ensuring program responsibilities are prioritised to achieve total customer satisfaction
