Data Distribution System for Air Traffic Control
Data Distribution System for Air Traffic Control
MoD
Distributing live and static data to Air Traffic Control operators
Project Capabilities:
- Integrated Logistic Support
The Challenge
The Royal Navy operates two Naval Air Stations at Yeovilton and Culdrose and a radar facility at Plymouth Naval Base to control flights. STS Defence was tasked with developing a solution to replace an outdated, obsolete, unreliable data distribution system.
Our Solution
The system was required to distribute live and static data to Air Traffic Control operators at their positions, using COTS hardware and software, backed up by a comprehensive safety case and had to conform to CAP 670, Air Traffic Control Management Regulations. The systems at each of the bases were networked together via a landline carrier.
STS Defence was then tasked to provide integrated logistics support for the systems and the contract has been novated to Aquila ATMS as part of Project Marshall.
