FiRST – Decision support for Firefighters

The Challenge

To develop a robust AI-based wearable technology that accurately predicts these increases in temperature, giving firefighters time to react.

Our Solution

Our research and development team applied their advanced machine-learning algorithms to develop FiRST, a wearable device taught to predict increases in temperature from data derived from live firefighting in the UK and US. The ambient temperature is constantly measured and analysed using a thermocouple at shoulder level and the AI-based algorithm predicts the likelihood of the temperature exceeding pre-defined alarm states, potential giving the Firefighter crucial early-warning of flashovers.
