STS Defence Awarded Sensor Health Contract
11th May 2022STS Defence recently won a contract to develop and demonstrate software algorithms for the Submarine Delivery Agency to identify defective channels from sensors capturing noise and vibration data so that they can be removed from the data stream prior to processing by other systems. We were successful in our bid due to our expertise and know-how in developing the machine learning algorithms on previous Innovate UK funded projects, alongside development of our own Data Acquisition Units for vibration data (built in-house), including knowledge of how sensors behave in harsh environments. Already we are leveraging a suite of tools developed in house previously for calculating ‘health scores’, as well as off the shelf software, to help build a large ‘synthetic’ data set and environment to test our algorithm candidates out.
The project runs from April through to the end of November, culminating in a demonstration to SDA and DSTL stakeholders. Already we are leveraging a suite of tools developed in house previously for calculating ‘health scores’, as well as off the shelf software, to help build a large ‘synthetic’ data set and environment to test our algorithm candidates out. We are supported on this project through our long-standing collaboration with the University of Portsmouth.
