STS Defence sign contract with Rolls-Royce to support the MT30 programme
07th March 2019STS Defence are pleased to announce that we have signed a 3 year contract with Rolls-Royce to support their MT30 programmes.
The MT30 is classed as ‘the world’s most powerful marine gas turbine in service today’ and is powering some of today’s most advanced naval vessels including the Royal Navy’s HMS Queen Elizabeth aircraft carrier, the US Navy’s Littoral Combat Ship Freedom class and advanced Zumwalt Destroyers, and the Republic of Korea Navy’s Daegu class frigate. It has also been selected to power the Royal Navy’s Global Combat Ship, the Italian Navy’s Landing Helicopter Dock and the Japan Maritime Defence Force’s 30FFM frigate.
STS Defence will be supporting the programme by producing Engine Monitoring Equipment that will be fitted to the MT30 turbines. Specifically, through the manufacture of the Engine Input and Output boxes and the Pressure Transducer Modules. These units provide engine control data and contribute to the overall Engine Health Monitoring system.
Although we are still in the early stages of production STS Defence’s aim is to manufacture and deliver a unit every month over the next 3 years, which could extend to 5 years.
STS Defence is pleased to be supporting Rolls-Royce and hope to continue to do so for this programme and others in the future.
